This project involves a comprehensive feasibility study to evaluate the necessity, optimal location, operational aspects, associated costs, and overall benefits of establishing a solid waste and recycling transfer station. The study will also investigate opportunities for the City of Gastonia and Gaston County to collaborate on solid waste and recycling services, aiming to enhance operational efficiency, decrease transportation and disposal expenses, and develop a sustainable, long-term solution for the county's growing southern region. The primary goal is to furnish both jurisdictions with the essential information required to assess potential infrastructure and service delivery models, ultimately determining whether a transfer station would yield significant operational or financial advantages.
