Hiking Trail Network, Pfälzerwald
The Bezirksverband Pfalz is implementing a new 1,925 km hiking trail network across the Pfälzerwald Biosphere Reserve in Germany, enhancing regional tourism and outdoor recreation. Deadline 18 Sep 2026
The project involves comprehensive planning, coordination, and construction supervision for establishing a newly structured hiking trail network within Germany's Pfälzerwald Biosphere Reserve. The Bezirksverband Pfalz, acting as the project sponsor, is executing a new concept developed between 2022 and 2023 by the Pfälzerwald-Verein. The primary objective is to create a sustainably maintainable, uniformly signposted, and qualitatively improved basic hiking trail network spanning approximately 1,925 km. The operational area covers the entire Pfälzerwald, an expanse of around 2,000 square kilometres, encompassing 24 cities and municipalities in Rhineland-Pfalz. Key services include setting up project structures, coordinating with stakeholders, conducting workshops, gathering field information, and developing digital cadastres for signage, marking, information boards, and trailside furniture. The scope also extends to preparing and assisting with further procurement procedures for on-site implementation, followed by construction supervision, coordination, and documentation of all building and assembly works, including final inspections and invoice verification. Intensive collaboration with the client, participating municipalities, the Pfälzerwald-Verein, Pfalz.Touristik, and other relevant parties is crucial, adhering to the Rheinland-Pfalz hiking trail guidelines and specific biosphere reserve requirements.
