Green Infrastructure Strategy, Mid Devon
Mid Devon District Council is commissioning a specialist consultant in the UK to develop a comprehensive Green Infrastructure Strategy for its new Local Plan. This strategy will establish a baseline, assess growth impacts, and identify mitigation and investment priorities for the region. Deadline 01 Oct 2026
Mid Devon District Council is developing 'Plan Mid Devon', a new Local Plan for the period 2026-2046, which anticipates significant housing growth. To support this, the Council requires a comprehensive Green Infrastructure Strategy. This strategy will provide a robust evidence base, establishing the existing green infrastructure baseline, assessing the impacts of planned growth, and identifying priorities for mitigation, enhancement, and investment. The commission involves specialist professional planning, green infrastructure, environmental, and GIS consultancy services. Key outputs include a baseline assessment and mapping, a draft and final Green Infrastructure Strategy, a delivery plan, and policy recommendations. The work must align with the Devon Local Nature Recovery Strategy and be structured to be usable by successor authorities following Local Government Reorganisation in April 2028. The project aims to protect, connect, enhance, and deliver green and blue infrastructure, ecological networks, biodiversity, access to nature, active travel, landscape, water, and flood-risk functions across the district.
