These sites were previously home to B-listed tenement blocks, which were regrettably destroyed by fires in 2019 and 2020. This design contest seeks innovative architectural proposals for both sites, envisioning a shared future for the cross. The competition will proceed in two stages; initially, participants will submit anonymous diagrammatic conceptual designs for judging. Following this, a shortlist of three entrants will be invited to further develop their ideas for Stage 2, which includes a Cost Plan and a named design team, culminating in the selection of an outright winner. The depth of the Stage 2 submission should align with an 'early' RIBA Plan of Work 2020 Stage 3 or an 'advanced' Stage 2.
