Dog Wood Cycle Path Design, Knutsford
Knutsford Town Council in the UK is seeking a consultant to undertake detailed design and pre-tendering works for a new cycle path connecting Church Walk with Parkgate Lane via Dog Wood. This project aims to create a vital link between the town centre, new housing developments, and an industrial park. Deadline 22 May 2026.
Knutsford Town Council is advancing plans for a new cycle path, identified as desirable in the Knutsford Neighbourhood Plan and Cycle Infrastructure Plan. This project aims to create a vital link between Church Walk and Parkgate Lane, passing through Dog Wood, to connect the town centre with new housing developments and the industrial park. A preliminary design, commissioned in 2024 with Shared Prosperity Fund grant, recommended further detailed land investigations. The current commission involves undertaking a comprehensive topographical and land survey, including tree surveys, services mapping, and levels, to inform the preferred route development. Ground investigations and testing are also required. The selected consultant will prepare a detailed construction design and tender documentation for one chosen route option. Additionally, the project necessitates a historic landscape impact assessment specifically for the section traversing National Trust land within Tatton Park, alongside a broader ecological appraisal for the entire route, addressing the complex landownerships and environmental considerations.
