The primary objective is to convert the former power plant into the new Danish Technical Museum, aiming to establish an internationally recognised institution for the collection and dissemination of technology's history, present, and future. The new museum will function as an open workshop and meeting place for technological education, debate, learning, and interactive experiences. The transformation must respect the building's industrial character, spatial qualities, and conservation values. The structure itself is intended to be an active component of the museum experience, setting a precedent for converting existing industrial buildings with a low climate impact, high recycling rates, and a clear link between preservation, new use, and architectural quality. The competition's core task is to develop an overall architectural and technical concept for the transformation, encompassing the layout of museum functions, public areas, a potential business\/technology hub, operational strategies, climatic and technical considerations, and the building's integration with the city and harbour. The project must be developed within a fixed financial framework of DKK 660 million (excluding VAT, 2026 price level).
