This significant urban development project aims to create an attractive, barrier-free, and climate-adapted environment that serves as a welcoming gateway to the city and a seamless connection point for various transport modes. The initiative seeks innovative design concepts for public open spaces and traffic infrastructure to enhance the quality of stay and improve the urban landscape. The competition focuses on developing a comprehensive masterplan for the station forecourt, bus terminal, and surrounding areas, covering approximately 7,890 square metres. Participants are also invited to submit conceptual ideas for the integration of adjacent street sections, including Wilhelmstra\u00dfe and Hermannstra\u00dfe, which span an additional 9,636 square metres. The primary goal is to establish an efficient and multimodal transport interchange that ensures safe, clear, and intuitive connections for all users, while also incorporating new mobility services. Successful designs will not only optimise traffic flow and accessibility but also significantly improve the aesthetic and functional quality of the public realm, ensuring the station area becomes a vibrant destination rather than merely a transit space.
