The commission concerns the replacement of an existing municipal sports facility and will lead to the award of a subsequent services contract to one of the competition winners. Rather than simply replacing an ageing building, the competition tests how a new public sports facility can respond to contemporary civic expectations while accommodating the functional demands of a municipal sports programme. The architectural challenge lies in reconciling demolition and redevelopment within an established urban setting, delivering a coherent replacement facility capable of supporting long-term public use.

sport-leisure

3 teams will be shortlisted to develop an anonymous ESQ+ (Enhanced Concept Design) proposal.
Each compliant shortlisted team will receive a competition honorarium of up to €145k.
Following the jury’s decision, the client will negotiate the architectural services contract with one or more competition winners.

Qualification Deliverables:
— Architect registered and authorised to practise in France (or equivalent professional registration for architects established in another country), acting as lead consultant and group representative.
— Multidisciplinary team demonstrating expertise in: Building services and environmental engineering (including HVAC, water treatment, electrical systems and fire safety); Structural engineering; Sports and aquatic facilities engineering; Highways and utilities; Cost consultancy; Environmental performance and circular economy; Landscape architecture; Acoustics.
— Administrative documentation including DC1/DC2 or ESPD (DUME), financial statements, professional insurance, architect registration, declarations of eligibility and legal standing.
— Evidence of technical capacity, staffing levels and turnover.
— Relevant project references demonstrating experience on aquatic centres or projects of comparable complexity, supported by illustrated reference sheets and presentation material for the lead architect.
