The expansion of Nyborg Harbour, led by Associated Danish Ports (ADP), reimagines the industrial edge of Lindholm Havn through a strategic extension of its freight infrastructure. Located at the eastern approach to Nyborg, the project centres on the southward extension of quay 20 and the creation of approximately 135,000 m\u00b2 of new harbour land through reclamation of sea territory. Enclosed by a stone revetment and sheet-piled perimeter, the new area is conceived as a beneficial reuse facility, formed using surplus and lightly contaminated soil, and designed to support port-related storage and logistics functions. The scheme aligns with existing industrial uses (environmental classes 3\u20137) while removing outdated infrastructure such as a planned rail alignment, enabling a more flexible and contemporary operational landscape.<\/p>\n
The project is as much a planning and environmental undertaking as it is an engineering intervention, requiring the preparation of a new local plan and municipal plan addendum alongside a comprehensive environmental framework. This includes a Strategic Environmental Assessment (environmental report), a full Environmental Impact Assessment (environmental impact report), and a development consent application, all coordinated across parallel approval processes with Nyborg Municipality and the Danish Transport Authority. Supporting studies, ranging from traffic analysis and Natura 2000 assessments to surface water management and carbon impact calculations, inform a design process embedded within regulatory negotiation and public consultation.
