As part of the Croatian governments investment in health tourism, Kalos Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation in Vela Luka has been granted funds for redevelopment. With the reconstruction of the existing building, the Kalos Special Hospital will become a spa hotel with all the facilities necessary for a four-star classification. The performance of the so-called intelligent rooms, and among other things, the kitchen, restaurant and reception will be renovated, and the existing outdoor pool with bleachers will be reconstructed. Kalos Hospital began its work in 1972 as an Institute for Medical Rehabilitation, and in 1994 it became a Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation.

The level of digitisation of the hotel will be significantly improved through the implementation of new technological solutions, and a higher level of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources will also be achieved, that is, energy savings of 83% and reduction of CO2 emissions by 88.86%.
