Design competition for the construction of the new library and public realm in an existing educational campus in Jõhvi vald, Estonia
The main task of the planned new Jõhvi Central Library is to create a unified, modern information, learning and community center in symbiosis with existing educational institutions, which forms a positive attitude towards reading and learning, supports lifelong learning, self-improvement and cultural needs, and creates added value to the cultural life of Jõhvi municipality.
The architecture of the building must be modern, high-level and improve the spatial quality of the area. The building is an important object from the point of view of the city, which must be presentable and worthy of its status. The planned building must have an architecturally modern formal language and low energy consumption throughout the life of the building.
The Jõhvi Central Library-Community Center will become a highly visible, active and attractive institution in Ida-Viru County and the entire Estonian cultural landscape, and a reliable partner for various cooperation partners in the implementation of cultural events, festivals and other cooperation projects.
