Długie Ogrody Street, Gdansk
The City of Gdańsk have announced an implementation competition for the development concept of Długie Ogrody Street as an extension of the Royal Route with the reconstruction of an alley of trees.
The revitalisation of Długie Ogrody Street concerns an area of approx. 2.7 ha from Stągiewny Bridge to the viaduct along Elbląska Street. Currently, this area looks decidedly different than it did before World War II. It is planned to restore it to its former glory. Therefore, it is necessary to comprehensively rebuild the road and its surroundings, as well as to recreate the tree alley along the street. This place will gain more greenery, first of all, thanks to the limited number of parking spaces. In the prepared project, special attention should be paid to the values of the architectural and urban composition, influencing the attractiveness of the area, taking into account the historical aspect and the quality and correctness of the adopted functional and spatial solutions. It is also important that the works include pro-ecological and pro-climate solutions that are possible to implement.
