Since its inception in 1983, the IALD International Lighting Design Awards has honoured lighting design that reaches new heights, moves beyond the ordinary, and represents excellence in aesthetic and technical design achievement.
The IALD International Lighting Design Awards, the longest-running international lighting design awards program, is the highest honour in the profession recognizing work that reaches new heights and represents excellence in aesthetic and technical achievement. Since its establishment in 1983, the awards program has supported the mission and vision of the IALD: raising the profile of the lighting design profession and demonstrating the visible success of that community.

Eligibility
- This is an awards program for architectural lighting design. Entrants must be lighting designers, and awards will be granted only to the team or teams that explicitly performed the design of the architectural lighting for the project that was submitted.
- Members of the awards judging panel, as well as the firms, organizations, agencies, or employers (including other divisions) they represent, are not eligible to enter the professional awards program for that year.

Submission
- A3 Project poster: Project title, Short Brief (100 words), Short captions with high resolution images.
- Images: at least six (6) images are required. Diagrams, Floor Plans, Concept drawing (labelled as such).
- Descriptions: limited to 280 characters and must not include names of firms, designers, collaborators, manufacturers, or products.
- Project images specifications: JPG files only, 300-600 dpi, 1200 pixels minimum on the shortest side, portrait, or landscape.
- Photographs may not be digitally altered for sharpness, exposure, colour, etc.

- Entrant’s name (the individual submitting the project and primary contact, does not have to be part of the credited design team or firm)

- All lighting designers on the project (including those no longer employed
by the submitting firm; these can be notated as “Formerly of ___”)
